About Davis Lester Cashmere
Our cashmere yarn from inner Mongolian cashmere goats is an extraordinary fibre with low bulk and high loft that knits up to provide one of the warmest, softest and most comfortable garments possible.
High-quality cashmere can be up to eight times warmer than sheep’s wool despite its light weight. There is cashmere and then there is CASHMERE. The fiber from inner Mongolia is often finer than most cashmere fibers found elsewhere, as the very harsh winter environments and diet of winter feed helps the goats to produce the finest fibers.
In many of our knitted garments, we have used yarn from younger breeding stock. This yarn is several times finer and softer than fiber collected from more mature animals. We call this baby cashmere. All our knitted items have been identified with a special tag on the website.
Texture, colour and length all help determine the final price of the yarn supplied and used to manufacture our garments. The whiter the fibre, the less dye is required to colour the yarn, as colourants can damage the softness of the fiber. The finished quality of the yarn used is also determined by the spinning and weaving process which will affect the finished garments look and feel. The difference is noticeable to the consumer.
